Riverside Research announces the appointment of two new distinguished board members to its Board of Trustees: retired Air Force Lt. Gen. David A. Deptula and The Honorable Stacey A. Dixon.
These new board members bring significant technical and national security expertise, strengthening Riverside Research’s ability to address complex challenges across the national security community. Their experience in government, academia, research and technology complements Riverside Research’s mission-driven approach and its foundation in independent, applied research. Together, these perspectives will help advance the organization’s ability to develop and deliver innovative research and technologies that address critical national security needs.
Deptula is a highly decorated military leader who retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2010 after more than 34 years of distinguished service. He is one of the world’s foremost experts on military airpower and spacepower issues—a pioneer in conceptualizing, planning and executing national security operations from humanitarian relief to major combat. Deptula has a mission-embedded background in drone engineering and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR).
Dixon built a distinguished career at the intersection of intelligence and advanced technology. She currently serves as a Distinguished Professor of the Practice in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She previously held leadership roles at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and served at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).
“David Deptula and Stacey Dixon understand both the complexity of today’s national security environment and the transformative potential of advanced technology,” said Jim Shields, chair of the Riverside Research Board of Trustees. “Their experience and strategic insight will be invaluable as Riverside Research continues to pursue bold research, accelerate innovation and strengthen national security.”
