Apr 07, 2014

TAMPA, FL – Riverside Research, an accredited provider of intelligence education and leading technical advisor in the development and application of full-spectrum geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) capabilities, will unveil a special pre-release edition of its groundbreaking new textbook, The Phenomenology of Intelligence-focused Remote Sensing, at the GEOINT 2013* Symposium.

First-of-its-kind remote sensing textbook to debut at GEOINT 2013* -
Originally scheduled for October 2013, the tenth annual GEOINT symposium hosted by the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) will run April 14-17, 2014 at the Tampa Convention Center.

“We are excited to preview our soon-to-be-released textbook at GEOINT– the nation’s preeminent intelligence event of the year,” said Jim Bower, Vice President of Business Development at Riverside Research. “This textbook includes a remarkable breadth and depth of information that will serve as a valuable resource for intelligence analysts, intelligence production managers, collection managers, and intelligence product end-users; as well as a text and reference for faculty, staff, and students across the spectrum of academia, government, and industry.”

Authored and published by Riverside Research under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), this graduate-level textbook is the first of its kind to include phenomenology, sensors, and intelligence applications under one cover.

“[The Phenomenology of Intelligence-focused Remote Sensing] represents a truly meaningful milestone in the evolution of teaching the technical components of GEOINT phenomenology,” said Keith Masback, CEO, USGIF. “It is fully comprehensive, yet written in a readily understood, engaging style. This text should be part of every GEOINT professional’s library and will readily serve as a superb basic or applied remote sensing reference.”

Symposium attendees are invited to visit the Riverside Research and USGIF exhibit booths (#2045 and #3067, respectively) to enter daily drawings to win a free textbook upon publication.

Of special note: USGIF will also be announcing a new scholarship, funded by proceeds from sales of the textbook, at GEOINT 2013*.

More about the textbook
The Phenomenology of Intelligence-focused Remote Sensing thoroughly discusses all the necessary elements of spatial, spectral, and temporal signature collection in the visible and infrared, including non-literal imagery interpretation, thermal, reflective, and polarimetric target characterization, radiative transfer, advanced technical intelligence collection systems, and data processing, analysis, and exploitation techniques. The textbook was authored and published with funding from the Riverside Research Independent Research and Development program.
