Background and Current Work

Rick Mohammed is a 26 year Navy veteran and currently leads a team of systems engineers in Chantilly, VA. He provides systems engineering and technical assistance and is responsible for geospatial intelligence satellite programs and their associated ground architecture, software, mission management, and command and control. He oversees the acquisition of future systems and is a member of engineering milestone review teams.  He has also been instrumental in designing and delivering a new methodology for the mission basing of new capabilities, ensuring that operational needs and resiliency are met.

Rick was a certified instructor and technical advisor at the National Geospatial-Intelligence College, where he created and taught introductory through advanced courses in overhead persistent infrared, thermal infrared, and synthetic aperture radar.

Education, Awards, Recognition

Rick holds a BS in mathematics from the University of South Carolina, an MS in meteorology and physical oceanography from the Naval Postgraduate School, and is currently pursuing his PhD in earth systems and geoinformation sciences from George Mason University. He has been awarded both the National Reconnaissance Office’s Ground Enterprise Directorate’s Team Member of the Year and Team Member of the Quarter awards.
